No trip to Marco Island would be complete without a stop to some of these famous local hang outs. A small caveat, we’ve been to most of these places but not all.
If you don’t mind the line, which you’ll invariably find at Joey’s Restaurant, then this is “the” pizza hang out in Marco Island. It’s a 20 minute walk, or 4 minute drive to the restaurant. Their deep dish pizza is to die for.

When we’re looking to spoil ourselves we like enjoy a trip to Verdi’s. It’s number 7 on TripAdvisor. The restaurant is a little pricy, but, what you would expect from a finer restaurant. And best of all, the food is consistently good, and the décor is extremely tasteful. Otherwise, the service, wine, desserts – all amazing. I’m looking forward to another occasion where we can stop by. And by the way, like most restaurants on Marco island during peak season, call ahead and book a reservation.

When you’re in Marco Island, and if you are coffee lovers like our family, then you need to take a quick tip to Wake Up Marco. There’s a treat or two for everyone, and the owner is super friendly. I found this little shop on Trip Advisor, and considering it was the number ONE of 104 reviewed restaurants on Marco Island, we knew we had to check it out. We’ve been many times since, and haven’t been disappointed. We find ourselves stopping by at least once (or twice) a day.
It’s an 8 minute drive from Ivory Court, and definitely worth the trip.

OK, here’s the deal. If you like Seafood, which we absolutely love, then you’ve got to stop by Hilton Hotel Paradise Café for their Friday night seafood buffet. You should try to book reservations in advance, especially during peak season, because the restaurant does get busy. It’s a full seafood buffet, and I finished 3 bowls of their delicious seafood soup before I realized that there were many other things in the buffet to choose from. The restaurant isn’t cheap though, so if you’re looking for a finer place to eat, and you like seafood, then check out this place. There are other things on the menu of course … oh, and if you can make a reservation just before the sunset then you can check out the sunset at the Hilton hotel beach just before dinner. It’s a quick 5 minute drive, 10 minute bike ride, or 30 minute walk.
Check out this shot of the Marco Island sunset.

Davinci Restaurant is rated a respectable #5 on TripAdvisor, and it’s worth the visit. There’s plenty of parking in the plaza, and it’s just across the street from the Hilton Hotel. You should try to book a reservation at Davinci’s, especially if you’re going during the peak season, and here’s a sun set tip … book your reservation 15 minutes after the sun sets, park in the Davinci plaza, and walk over to the Hilton before the sun sets, it’s a 5 minute (or less) walk across the street to the Hilton hotel, walk through the lobby past the pool area and down to the beach to watch the sun set. It’s definitely worth it. Oh, and for what it’s worth, they make an amazing spaghetti. Delizioso.

What can you say … it’s an ice cream place. It’s also my kids favourite ice cream place on the island. If you are in the mood for a little indulgence, after a difficult day of bike riding and walking on the beach, you MUST head over to Beebe’s Ice Cream shop. It has that small town old ice cream shop atmosphere, it’s a quick 5 minute drive from Ivory Court, or better yet, 10 minute bike ride, and what a great way to end the day. My personal favorite is vanilla, and if I’m really in the indulgent mood, some chocolate sauce.

If you’re coffee junkies like us you’ll invariably find yourself at a Starbucks once in a while. There are a couple of Starbucks on Marco Island, the closest is at 740 North Collier, a quick 8 minute drive. Unfortunately parking isn’t very easy to find in the plaza … it could take more time to find a spot then it will take to order your Grande coffee! Nonetheless, if you need your Starbucks fix:
